Why Micro Weddings Are Trending for 2026—According to a Bride Living It
An insider look at why couples are choosing intimate, intentional weddings
Micro weddings aren't a trend I discovered on social media—they're something I've watched quietly take shape over years in the wedding industry and something I'm now choosing for myself. As a bride getting married in 2027 and someone who's been part of weddings since I was a teenager, I've seen how couples' priorities have shifted. More and more, people are asking not how big their wedding should be, but how it should feel.
One of the biggest reasons micro weddings are gaining momentum is intention. Smaller guest lists allow couples to design a day that reflects who they are rather than trying to accommodate expectations, traditions, or logistics that don't resonate. When there are fewer people to consider, every decision becomes more thoughtful—from the ceremony setting to the pacing of the day. The result is often a celebration that feels calm, connected, and genuinely personal.
There's also a noticeable shift in how couples are choosing to spend their wedding budgets. Instead of spreading resources across a large guest count, micro weddings allow couples to invest in experience: beautiful food, meaningful music, elevated design, and moments that feel immersive rather than rushed. From my perspective as a wedding musician, these are often the weddings where guests stay present, emotions linger longer, and the day unfolds naturally.
Finally, micro weddings are trending because they make space for couples to actually enjoy their wedding day. Less coordination, fewer moving parts, and more time with the people who matter most—it creates an atmosphere that feels relaxed but elevated. At Otherwise Creative, we're seeing couples gravitate toward intimate weddings that feel full, layered, and thoughtfully designed. It's proof that a wedding doesn't need to be large to feel unforgettable.
Through Love Notes, I'll be sharing honest insights from both sides of the aisle—as a bride and as someone who's spent years behind the scenes of weddings—to help couples plan celebrations that feel intentional, personal, and truly theirs.
